Huang Zi Tao, or Tao, as he’s more commonly known, is a Chinese singer-songwriter, rapper, actor and model. He was born Qingdao, Shandong, China on May 2, 1993 and made his debut in the entertainment world in 2011 when he was introduced as the third member of the South Korean idol group, EXO. Parting from the group in 2015, he made his debut as both an actor and a solo artist later that year. Since then he has appeared in numerous variety shows and a growing number of films and television dramas, including the moving 2019 historical drama, “Yan Shi Fan”.

Huang made his film debut in romance film You Are My Sunshine alongside Huang Xiaoming and Yang Mi. The film was released on May 1, 2015.

In 2016, Huang starred in the action comedy Railroad Tigers directed by Ding Sheng, alongside Jackie Chan.

In 2017, Huang starred in the martial arts film The Game Changer, directed by Gao Xixi, as well as the romantic thriller Edge of Innocence. The same year, he played the monkey king in the web drama A Chinese Odyssey: Love You A Million Years, adapted from the film A Chinese Odyssey. The series garnered over 5 billion views online during its run. In November, he was announced as one of the two leads in action drama Forward Forever alongside Jackson Yi.

In 2018, Huang starred in Negotiator, a spin-off of the 2016 hit drama The Interpreter. The same year, he was cast in the youth period drama The Files of Teenagers in the Concession.

In 2019, he acted as a Chinese pop star in the music romance youth drama The Brightest Star in the Sky.

Tao (Born: Huang Zitao)was the main rapper of Exo-M. Tao is a martial artist, and has been practicing Wushu since he was five years old. He competed in several martial arts championships in Qingdao. He also won the "Top Rap Award" at Beijing 3rd Annual College Street Jam. Tao auditioned for S.M. Entertainment's global casting system in Qingdao and became an S.M. trainee in late 2010. He was one of the last Exo members to join S.M. Entertainment and had a training period of less than one year.
